As the European Union proposes to revise its policy on biofuels, this event will look at the potential role that Brazil, the world’s second largest ethanol producer, can play in delivering truly sustainable biofuels to Europe. With the objective of offering a fruitful contribution to the debate on the future role of biofuels in Europe, the event will identify the dynamics of the Brazilian sugarcane ethanol production regarding land use and sugar supply. It will also discuss the measures proposed by the European Commission in light of the EU commitments under the World Trade Organization Agreements.
